- What is the difference between the paid version and
the evaluation version of the RapidSP Simulator?
The software in evaluation mode will only be able to use
example tick data files with few days of data available for
trading. Other than that the evaulation version has
all the features of the purchased version and
never expires. Once purchased (activated) the evaluation
version will work with any of
the data files available on RapidSP download
site.
- I just downloaded free simulator to day trade stocks.
However, the only symbol I see is Cisco system (csco). Do I have
to purchase the full software to experience real trades like the
one taking place in the market?
Software runs in a full trial mode (just like a purchased
version) with default data file CSCO. You can download more
example data files for use with evaluation version or regular
data files for use with purchased version at our download
site.
- Will RapidSP install spware/adware on my computer?
Is it digitally signed and certified by Microsoft/Comodo?
RapidSP software is digitally signed and is certified
by Microsoft/Comodo as a verified publisher. RapidSP is also
certified as spyware-free, adware-free and virus-free by download.com/CNET.com,
Softpedia.com,
Tucows.com
and most other premium download sites.
- Do you have list of instruments offered in RapidSP
simulator?
List of data files can be found at http://www.tradingsimulatorsoftware.com/dataindex.htm
- Where can I get tick data that I can use with RapidSP
simulator?
Tick data files, for many different instruments (4-5 years/instrument)
are available
here.
- How to use the downloaded data file ( for e.g ES-111111.2007.zip)
with RapidSP simulator?
Please see this video
on how to unzip data file and import in the RapidSP simulator.
- Where can I get list of technical indicators offered
in RapidSP?
Please visit http://www.tradingsimulatorsoftware.com/techind.htm
to see the list of technical indicators offered in RapidSP.
- How often do you update data files?
Data files are updated every three months.
- If I purchase the software, will I receive all the
new updates, in the future at no additional price or do I have
to pay for the new updates as they come?
Once the software is purchased, the updates are free for one
year from the date of purchase.
- If I purchase the software, can I discuss with someone
by phone?
Our customers will receive the full technical support
via email. If we can’t solve the problem with e-mail
than phone support will be provided.
- If I decide to purchase RapidSP simulator, is there
a way to order the software by phone or mail, as I don’t
want to give any financial information over the Internet?
For US based customers we do accept the cashier’s check/money
order. Please let us know that you are making purchase with
check/money order & we will send you instructions.
- I bought the software, but I haven’t received
any reply/communication from you.
We respond within one business day/7 days a week. Please check
your bulk folder/add support@tradingsimulatorsoftware.com to
your
safe
list.
- What time zones are the ticks’ data is captured?
Is it EST or something else?
The time zone is U.S. Eastern time (New York time).
- Is it possible to add my own data from my existing data
sources?
RapidSP Simulator uses the proprietary data files, but the
tick data can be exported.
- Can I export tick data from the data files?
Yes. All the RapidSP tick data can be exported in tick or
one minute CSV format. Wordpad is a good tool to read the
(very) large data files if you need to for some reason.
- Can I add few proprietary indicators? What about a way
for users to add their own indicators?
At this point we do not have a provision to add proprietary
indicators.
- Does the simulator support multiple time frames?
You can select any time frame from 1-minute bars to all the
way up to 4 hr bars. You make this selection in the trading
setup screen that is shown when you start the simulator.
- When you set the time rate (RT, 2X, etc.), does this
mean that the instances in which the price is updated changes
on a set time period?
Not really. For example for going from RT to 2X the # of ticks
plotted stay the same but they are plotted faster than real
time.
- Is the price updated as it occurred historically?
The answer is yes and no. The answer is no because even at
moderate trading activity, there are simply too many ticks
to
display. So some redundant ones are not plotted by the simulator
(will slow it down considerably since the simulator is usually
run at faster than market speed). The answer is
yes because it still captures the price action (which is what
matters) in small time frames. So the open-high-low-close over
few seconds or a minute or over few minutes will always be
correct.
So dropping redundant ticks has no impact on price action or
trading results.
- Will the simulator simulate pick up in activity by moving
the price around rapidly?
Yes. The price action will always be correct, if the prices
are moving around rapidly the simulator will display the correct
price action.
- When you load up tick data into the simulator, how
does the simulator determine which day to select? Is that just
random?
Simulator selects a day on its own and shows it in the control
panel window, but you can click on the arrow and select a day
from the calendar drop down.
- How to apply the technical indicators?
Press ”Pause” button from the “Control Panel”
to apply the technical indicators. Select any chart window (for
e.g. Chart1- 1 min) you get the technical indicator menu bar
(Chart, Top Studies, Bottom studies etc). Select the different
types of studies by clicking on either of Top Studies/bottom
Studies/Volume Studies/Line Studies menu. Click on the indicator
drop down menu, select the indicator you wish to add and click
on it. A dialog box will appear that will allow input of parameters
for that study
- Why I have to ‘Pause’ the simulator to
add a trend line?
This was basically done since the chart keeps on moving towards
left as more and more price action is plotted. Trying to draw
a trend line on a moving chart can be difficult especially if
you are doing a high-speed plot. To avoid the confusion caused
by different way of operating at different speeds, a 'pause'
was made necessary at all speeds.
- Sometimes a chart would somehow get under the tab at
the top and I can’t figure out any way to get it back. Can
you help?
Get a trading day going & click on any non-chart window
(such as control panel). Then on top menu click on window =>
tile
- How can I arrange windows?
Click on any non chart window (for example 'control panel')
and then click on window=> tile on the top menu.
- Can your simulator run two different data series simultaneously
to simulate? For e.g. Can I run a simulation for the E-mini as
well as CSCO?
The simulator cannot run two series at the same time but if
they can be in different windows then you can always fire two
copies of the simulator on the same computer and open different
instruments
- Does the simulator keep track of the trades I make &
then be able to visually display this on the relevant chart?
RapidSP does keep the track of trades in a separate log file.
You can track those trades on the chart, which is highlighted
by green up arrow for “Buy” & red down arrow
for “Sold”
- OHLC bars are very small. How can I make these bigger
by viewing a smaller time window, which in turn will make the
bars bigger?
Go into any chart window & click on the “Up ward
arrow button” to expand the bars vertically & “downward
arrow button” to compress the bars.
- Can I use three different Bollinger band on the same
chart and have the ability to change the deviations?
Yes.
- The data supplied, is it 24 hour data?
Yes, for instruments that are traded 24 hrs. a day.
- Does the software support hedging i.e. taking one buy
contract and one sell contract at the same time.
Yes.
